Malec Hogwarts AU [Part 1/?]

Alec Lightwood is a Ravenclaw student, but all he wanted was to be sorted into Gryffindor with his sister Isabelle & his adopted brother Jace, whom he got a crush on since he was 12. Especially when in his 4th year, Jace seems to be interested in Clary, a 3rd year Gryffindor, who’s best friend – Simon – happens to be Alec’s only friend in Ravenclaw. To help him forget about Jace & Clary, Isabelle drags him to a secret party held by a 6th year Slytherin. At the party, Alec meet a guy with very strange eyes who turn out to be the host, and also Slytherin Prefect.

I have written so many posts about a hypothetical Harry Potter AU for TMI. I could never decide whether to put Alec in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff (Ravenclaw is my house, so).

I think for this AU, I would make Maia Alec’s friend in Ravenclaw and put Simon in Hufflepuff. Jordan once mentioned that she wanted to go to Stanford, so she is probably really smart and could use some more book-time.

I also can’t stand Jace much, or Alec’s crush on him, so I would drop that aspect. Alec can just be a shy and self-conscious gay guy who isn’t ready to come out and misses spending time with his sister, rather than have an unrequited crush on someone who canonically treats him like crap.

I also want Alec to be a future Ravenclaw Prefect- Alec would be good at his studies and reliable.

I have a bunch of scenarios going on in my head for this AU, such as Alec smelling Amortentia and realizing it smells like Magnus, which is how he figures out that he likes the older student.

Same here, but at the end I chose Ravenclaw because the color scheme match Alec’s eyes (lame i know)

I don’t like Jace too (& I think Alec had a crush on him simply because he is the only guy around Alec for years) but I want to keep the relationship as canon as possible, also Alec’s feelings for Jace has an important part later in of my story.

I’m not really pay much attention to Maia & Jordan, but i thought of put Maia in Gryffindor & Jordan in Hufflepuff. Simon/Alec is actually my BROTP, idk i just think they have a lot in common, just don’t have the opportunity to develop their relationship. Also Simon need to be friend with Alec so he can get involved with Isabelle.
