Un-beta’d, hope the grammar isn’t that bad. I just wanted to post it because I had totally forgotten about having written it and I liked it. 🙂
The first time Alec woke up next to Magnus he got startled so badly that he fell out of the bed effectively waking up the warlock as well.
“Oh dear, do I look that terrifying in the morning?” Alec could hear Magnus’ voice over the edge of the bed. It sounded mostly joking, but there was still that fine trace of worry mixed within. Alec chuckled softly to himself as he tried to untangle his legs from the blanket he’d unceremoniously taken own with him. After some struggling he gave up and simply sat up to peek over the edge of the bed this way and make sure that Magnus hadn’t taken his lack of an answer the wrong way.
What he didn’t expect was that in the meantime Magnus had moved forward to Alec’s side of the bed as well and when Alec sat up he was suddenly face to face with his boyfriend.
It was an experience he was still lacking the rights word for, even if it was only in his own mind. The fact alone that he actually had a boyfriend made little fireworks erupt in his chest sometimes. And just when he’d remember how to properly use his lungs again he would be reminded that said boyfriend was Magnus Bane and his whole world would turn upside down all over again.
The mere thought of waking up every morning to those stunning eyes, to that smile … being woken by that smooth voice …
“I’m still waiting for my answer, darling”, Magnus whispered light teasing lacing his words. Alec felt his lips stretching into a broad smile that he couldn’t control and didn’t want to. He didn’t say anything though. He just leaned forward pressing his lips against Magnus’. Soft pressure spoke more than a thousand words wold have been able to.
Alec felt his heart sore, but only partly because of the kiss … mostly just because he could do this. He could kiss Magnus and he would be kissed back. He could show affection in a way he had always dreamed about. He didn’t have to be afraid to be alone, die alone. There was somebody he could curl up against when he felt down.
He could share an intimacy that was entirely his own. It was his very own little world and it didn’t consist of fear and shadow anymore.
It felt amazing.
“God, I love your smile”, Magnus sighed against Alec’s lips which made the shadowhunter chuckle again.
“Lucky me”, he whispered, “I only have that one.”
