“He isn’t in love with me because he’s my cousin.”

Every morning I wake up in the armpit of his alien world. His world was completely different from what he was used to. Yes, he was well off, with his family and whatnot but not like Oliver.

When Oliver told him his parents wanted to meet him and wanted them to spend their summer vacation over at their home in the Philippines he didn’t imagine something like what he saw. It was more than a home, it was like, an assortment of luxury homes combined to make this huge three story home.
Connor was well off, but Oliver, it seems, had money shooting out of his ass.

“I know it might look like a lot, but it really isn’t.” Oliver had said when he and Connor first pulled up.

That was a bald face lie if he ever knew one. Connor walked quickly down the hall, taking a turn whenever something looked familiar. He wasn’t sure why all the rooms seemed to be connected and none of the workers understood English and he couldn’t even say, “Good morning” in Filipino so they probably thought he was being rude.

He leaned against the wall, toothbrush still in his mouth and realised he’d probably die of starvation before anyone even knew he was lost, again. It was the second time this week.

“Oliver!!!!” Connor groaned, hoping he’d hear him. It was still early so his family probably wouldn’t be up.

He guessed that was probably why the house didn’t seem as huge like Oliver had said. When everyone was up and away his home was filled with chatter and the sound of kids playing and adults talking.

Oliver’s father worked as a real estate agent but he also volunteered at the recreational centre in town where he grew up. Oliver’s grandparents and aunt along with his little cousin lived with them.

Then there was the pool boy.

“Hey, where did you go?” Oliver asked as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes walking to him.

Connor pouted, “I got lost again.”
