headcanon set #6
prompt: malec & pillow talk as suggested by go-insane-its-magnus-bane (ily)
- After an insanely long day of clients and training and hunts, the two find themselves collapsing onto the bed, shedding their clothes on the way. Alec’s struggling with his jeans and Magnus ends up snapping them away, leaving them both clad in their boxers. Alec immediately shifts closer to Magnus, pressing his chest against Magnus’s curved back, interlocking their fingers together. They’re exhausted but they can’t help themselves from small touches: a nose against a cheek, fingers against his waist, legs against legs, hip to hip, heart to heart, the slight brush of his fingers, they way they fit so perfectly like this was where they’re suppose to be.
“I never took you for a cuddler until very recently.”
Alec grinned against Magnus’s hair. “You like it.”
Magnus can’t continue coherently, he mutters something Alec doesn’t quite understand, the two speak to each other in an entirely different language. Soft whispers and fleeting touches and deep sighs.
- Alec fell onto the mattress, his chest heaving, the sheets tangled all around his body. Magnus was beside him, breathing heavily, his hair a type of mess that rivalled Alec himself. Alec’s covered in a thin layer of sweat, tangled his fingers through his hair before curving against Magnus and pulling Magnus’s arm over his waist. Magnus got the hint, wrapping his arms tightly around his boyfriend, tugging him in closer.
“Well,” Magnus huffed. “That was good. You were very good, I didn’t know that you could bend like that-”
“Can we not talk about this.”
Alec could feel Magnus grin in the crook of his neck. “You have no problem doing it but the moment-”
“Magnus, this is so weird. I can’t believe we just did that. That was kinky, even by your standards.”
- Or Magnus is exhausted but Alec is awake, the adrenaline coursing through his veins from his last hunt, so while Magnus is trying to fall asleep, Alec is propped up on his shoulders trying to get Magnus to chat with him, because he’s so awake.
but Alec can’t get his attention so he starts resorting to different topics like:
“So I was thinking about marriage.”
“I swear to god.” Magnus grumbled. “if you propose right now I’m going to kill you.”
OR
“I think I’m in love with Jace, you know, again.”
“He doesn’t own his own apartment. And he’s got a red head attached to his hip. If you date him, you’re dating her too, and I know she’s not your type.”
“… Is she your type?”
(Magnus ends up smacking him with a pillow to get him to shut up)
- They hadn’t been going out for very long but Alec finds himself laying in Magnus Bane’s bed, right beside him. They hadn’t done anything remotely sexual, it had been a late night, both exhausted and Magnus insisted that they could share the bed. Alec’s nervous, and for Alec’s sake Magnus snaps into a pair of warm pajamas.
“Really Alec, I’m not going to molest you under the covers.”
“I know I just-”
Magnus turned so that he was facing Alec, who was still staring at the ceiling. “Look, we’re not even touching and the couch isn’t very comfortable. Believe me. You’d fall off.”
Alec turned too, so that the pair were face to face, his hand nervously tucked under his cheek. “Your bed is… comfortable. I don’t know why I’m not tired anymore.”
“Maybe the shower helped?”
“Usually I’d be passed out by now.”
“Maybe it’s the sexy warlock?”
Alec grinned bashfully but didn’t respond. “You know,” Alec said, oddly somber. “I’ve been thinking a lot about… everything.”
“Us everything?”
“Yeah, us everything.”
“My, I hope you’re not proposing.” Magnus teased.
“No,” Alec responded, serious and genuine, causing Magnus to clamp his mouth shut. “I was thinking about, well, coming out.”
Magnus’s eyes bugged out of his head before he internally reprimanded himself. That wasn’t the right reaction. He quickly slipped into a more reassuring facade, smiling gently.
“I know, it’s kinda random.” Alec paused. “But, I think I’m becoming ready for it, you know? Jace wouldn’t care, I know he wouldn’t.”
“No he wouldn’t, your siblings wouldn’t care, not at all.”
“It’s just-”
“Your parents.”
“Yeah.” Alec said the word breathlessly, his inner turmoil falling out with one word and Magnus briefly wondered how long he’d been thinking about this.
“Alec, I don’t want to pressure you but coming out, it’s like this huge weight being lifted from your shoulders. Where you don’t need to worry about being someone you’re not.”
“My parents.” Alec repeated forlornly. “We really don’t have gay shadow hunters, Magnus.”
“You’re so much more than your sexuality.”
“My father will hate me.”
Magnus cupped Alec’s cheek. “You’re such a dedicated shadowhunter. You’ve thrown your life on the line again and again. You’re good at what you do.”
“I won’t be able to carry on the Lightwood name.”
“You’d be happy.”
“Maybe I wouldn’t.”
“I think we’re doing a pretty good job so far.”
“I like you Magnus, a lot, and you’ve shown me things and you’ve made me feel things that I never thought I’d be able to experience. That’s something I won’t be able to thank you enough for. And I will come out, I have to, but I know my parents won’t react well and I just,” Alec closed his eyes, as if looking at Magnus was too hard. “All I ever wanted was to be good.”
“Alec,” Magnus said sadly. “You are good. So good.”
No, Alec thought, not good enough.
Instead he responded with a quick nod of his head, a small ‘yes’ escaping even when a thousand ‘no’s were on the surface of his tongue.
- KIDS (or headcanon that Magnus’s the one who mentions it first)
“You know I was thinking about something.” Magnus suddenly said, his voice loud against the silence of the room. “Ever since we’ve gotten engaged, I’ve been thinking about this something.”
“Are you ever going to tell me ‘this something’ or am I going to need to guess?”
“Well, have you ever thought about having… children?”
Magnus could hear Alec suck in a sharp breath before unceremoniously choking, coughing out loudly. Magnus pauses, giving Alec some time to recover.
“I, uh, thought Warlock’s couldn’t have children.” Alec responded meekly. “And wouldn’t we need a girl?”
“We can’t but there are more options if you ever wanted children. Like adoption. Or surrogacy.”
“I didn’t know you wanted children.” Alec said quietly.
“I didn’t think I did either, but I think we’d be good at it.” Magnus smiled. “And I think we’re ready for it. Plus, I think I need someone to spoil and dress.”
“Don’t you already do that to me?”
“Yes but I’ll teach our child the beauty of fashion at a young age and soon they’ll be dressed better than yours truly.”
“I like the sound of that.”
“A fashionably-advanced kid?”
“No, ‘our child’. I like it.”
“It does have a certain ring to it, doesn’t it.”
“Okay.” Alec said breathlessly, the word ringing through Magnus’s ears.
“Okay okay?”
“Lets have a kid and you can dress them up and I can complain about it when you two have ganged up on me and decided to give me an impromptu make over.”
(The two celebrate with a sloppy kiss, all excitement and elation and the blankets still tucked around them)
- Magnus & Alec recounting Edom and how fucking terrifying it had been. Alec not knowing if Magnus was alive, murdering and Magnus having to confront his father, almost stuck in Hell alongside him, so close to death, witnessing other’s death (Raphael didn’t deserve that, he didn’t deserve that at all). They cry in each other’s arms until they can’t cry anymore, until their faces are entirely dry, the only hint that they’d been crying from their splotchy skin and soft hiccups. Alec’s facade crumbles when he’s alone with Magnus and Magnus’s mask falls away onto the nightstand and for tonight they are themselves, with each other, two human messes dealing with the shit that life had thrown at them, trying to hold the weight of the world on their shoulders.
- The two are lying in bed, it was the third time that day they had sex, they hadn’t left the bedroom for anything, save for the quick bathroom breaks. They’re both trying to recover, Alec’s breathing hard and Magnus is slowly catching his own breath. Magnus looks like he’s about to say something embarrassing but before he utters a word Alec blurts out, “Tell me a story.” Magnus looks confused, it was so completely random, and instead of voicing these thoughts his mind reels back to a rather interesting adventure had in the Caribbean’s and proceeds to retell the story like an actor. He waves his hands animatedly as he gets more into the story, mimicking the accents and using his magic to draw in the air so that Alec can try to see an ounce of what it was like. Magnus’s voice is compelling and Alec’s deeply entranced in the story, laughing when Magnus was an idiot, asking about the friend’s he was with. The two don’t realize that it’s almost 2 AM by the time Magnus had officially completed the story, Alec still clutching his stomach from laughing so hard and Magnus listening to the sound like music to his ears.
