hi! i just saw all your posts about shadowhunters and i agree completely about godfrey gau :) and i do think harry’s acting, and i suppose the whole cast’s acting isn’t so great. but i thought they did the malec kiss ok, what do you reckon?

i will quote one of my mutuals (?) on this: [Godfrey] wasn’t very good (either) but at least he was more aesthetically pleasing. and i have no comment about the malec kiss, i didn’t watch pass episode 10 and everytime i saw gifs of the scene i cringed so…

ok so i stopped watching shadowhunters by like the third episode so i was just wondering, did they give simon a white family? like i know his family must be jewish but jewish people can be white and based on gifs i saw his mother and sister both look pretty european (ik alberto is more of a light skinned latinx but he’s not completely white passing)

well, they did mentione some Jewish ceremonies a few times so i guess Simon and his family are Jewish idk i’m not really familiar with the whole thing so…

how is maryse being concerned about her adopted son creepy lol

because she shows no such concerns or feel the need to defend her own children like she did with her adopted son. and the fact that there is a scene where she watched Jace trains with an admirative look, so yeah that’s creepy. not that i think the show did that (the creepy feels i mean) on purposes of course, but i guess you don’t actually want to hear about my opinion with that attitude of yours right

why does everyone call sh progressive but they made izzy, the latina, the most oversexualized character (i’m fine with her sexualizing herself but they made her the MOST sexualized and latinas are always hypersexualized when they get any bit of representation) they made that simon and camille scene non-consensual and didn’t talk about how fucked up it actually was and probably more but i don’t watch i’ve only seen some clips so idk what else but like ?? it’s not that progressive chill

well, i can’t say i expect much from a producer whose first description of Emeraude is ‘very, very sexy’ and had said she is ‘very nice to look at’ straight to her face in front of the entire comic con panel (i HATE McG, in case some of you didn’t know). and if we want to there are a lot of other things that can be said about this show, for example the fact that almost every characters that has been racebended (Luke, Camille, Maureen) are or will be Downworlders or the fact that Alec has just been outed without his permission in the lastest episode etc honestly i don’t think these things were written on purposes, just not very well thought. They tried, i would give them that, but i think they still need to put more efforts into it. This is not the first time things like this happened on tumblr though. Take sense8 for example, tumblr went crazy when it first came out and even now, even though there are so many problematic things about it :

there is nothing going on in episode 3, and i mean literally NOTHING. Just an entire episode of people talking nonsense and no plot-moving, so i guess it’s safe to watch it with your mom? However there are a lot of straight people making out and an implied sex scene, just so you know what to expect.

I think the ‘I’m not in your shadow’ thing was caused by the earlier convo that alec had with hodge. In the book hodge’s manipulation a were more behind the scenes but since they’re giving both the lightwoods and hodge more time onscreen there is more room to develop it. I thought the same thing you did until I watched the ep again and realized that alex was basically saying what hodge had said to him before but just slightly modified. Hodge is trying to turn them against each other

you missed my point. my point is that book!alec (the Alec that i love, not this ridiculous version of him) would never said something like that to Jace, it’s totally out of character for him. Hodge doesn’t have magic. Even if he manipulated Alec, it wouldn’t make Alec an entire person, change his entire personality just by 1 sentence.
