Okay, but can we consider DGM in historical context? Like. Hm, late 1800s. What was happening around then? Oh, yeah…

A list of terrible things that happened between 1850 and 1900 (not exhaustive):

 – The Crimean War (1853-1856, death toll ~213,147+)
 – The American Civil War (1861-1865, death toll 365,000+)
 – The Paraguayan War (1864-1870, death toll 140,000+)
 – The Austro-Prussian War (1866, death toll ~108,000)
 – A famine in Finland and Sweden (1866-1868, death toll ~270,000)
 – The Ten Years’ War (1868-1878, death toll 300,000+)
 – Circassian Genocide (1864-1867, death toll in the hundreds of thousands)
 – Famine in Persia (1871-1872, death toll ~2 million)
 – Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871, death toll ~176,000)
 – Famine in India (1875-1900, death toll ~26 million)
 – Famine in China (1876-1879, death toll ~13 million)
 – Another famine in India (1899-1900, death toll ~1 million)
 – And a lot of other things with death tolls of under 100,000 that I won’t list because this would be miles long otherwise

It really puts into perspective just how devastating the Earl’s ability would’ve been. How much higher would the death tolls be with the resulting akuma, and their victims, included? (Part of the reason I headcanon that the Order sends cleanup crews out to areas where major disasters are occurring.)

also consider: marie and miranda have a kid, but because of the way the order is, they kind of become everyone’s kid. like, obviously they’re the most involved in their kid’s life, but a lot of times they’re away, and that’s really worrying to them (especially miranda) but they have an entire organization of babysitters so it’s really fine.

lenalee loves them soooo much and whenever she takes care of them it seems like she’s totally spoiling them but the second she’s like “pick up your toys” they’re like YES MA’AM.

lavi also loves this kid but he is banned from being alone with them because he has a bad habit of “forgetting” that kids are breakable. like, he’s never gotten them seriously injured, but… it is always a risk. he has to be supervised because he is also basically a child.

kanda is also banned from being alone with them but not because of anything he did marie just has a Bad Feeling. the kid totally loves him though and will climb all over kanda and kanda will just sit there motionless and you can almost see the vein in his forehead pulsing and whoever’s supervising them is just like “o-KAY time to go.”

allen should probably be banned from being alone with the kid but whenever anyone else is around he is behaved perfectly but once they’re alone he’s like, “who wants to learn poker!!!!” and the kid’s like, “yay!!!!!” he’s also trained the kid to put everything away in three seconds flat whenever they hear footsteps. what does he want. it’s unclear.

chaoji is so very uncomfortable around this kid. he’s like. what do i do. what if i hurt him. he literally did not touch the kid until they turned two because he didn’t want to break him. he should probably chill.

timothy is SUCH A JERK to this child and emilia is constantly apologizing for everything he ever does because he is just. such a jerk. she straight up asks him “why are you doing this?” and he’s like. i dunno. great.

THE SCIENCE DIVISION TOTALLY FAWNS OVER THIS KID komui is making things for them all the time (and they never get used because they’re probably dangerous but the sentiment is appreciated) and johnny and cash are always trying to make the kid smile. reever is so good at taking care of them whenever miranda would be panicking because the baby was sick reever would be there to help.

speaking of which!!! head nurse is AMAZING during all of this she’s the rock of the order she always knows e x a c t l y what to do and is so good at calming the stressed out parents down and of course she delivers the baby and everything goes so well head nurse is….. amazing….

sokalo is surprisingly really good with kids. like, none of the generals see them that often, because they’re usually away, but sokalo is probably the best with kids out of all of them. klaud is kind of awkward even though she does really like the kid and tiedoll cries too much and marie is like… oh no…. and cross is cross he’s done his parenting he’s finished with that he’s like “nice kid where’s the alcohol”
