you know what’s really fucking cool about quidditch?

there arent separate teams for boys and girls

wizards don’t give a shit what your gender is as long as you can hold your own on the pitch

muggle sports should take note

You clearly have never tried to play a competitive sport as an average sized (DAB) female against an average sized (DAB) male. They are generally faster, stronger, bigger (which matters a lot in sports like football), like separating sports is basically the only way to have a lot professional female athletes…

I get that it’s cool that quidditch has mixed teams, but I don’t think that separate girls/boys teams in the muggle world are necessarily a bad thing.

You can’t deny that once they reach a certain age boys in general have a physical advantage when it comes to most sports. It can be very intimidating being a girl on a team full of boys who are faster/stronger, so that even if you train hard and have the technical skill, it can still be really difficult to keep up. Your talent can be overlooked because of your physical disadvantage and then you can end up feeling more like a burden than an asset.

I prefer playing with people who have the same capabilities as I do, so that we all have a chance of contributing equally to the game. This is easier achieved when girls and boys play separately – it’s like when they separate boxing into weight groups, it’s not to discriminate, it’s to make it more fair because the extra weight and strength proves a big advantage in a fight.

I 100% support equal rights for men and women, but I don’t believe that men and women are exactly the same (and I don’t think that that’s a bad thing either).
So when it comes to sport, I think having separate teams for men/women is as much for the women’s sake as it is for the men’s.

(And because this is tumblr it is probably necessary for me to add here that I’m aware that there are exceptions to the rule and that some boys suck at sports and would not stand out on a team full of girls whilst some girls could kick ass on a team full of boys)

Peace out

But the thing is, they DO take note. The fact is, women can’t compete in the same league as men in physical sport. And I’m not saying this to be mean or sexist. In 1998, the Serena sisters both lost to the 203rd ranked male tennis player. They where considered the best and they lost to the 203rd! Not someone in the top 10, 50, not even 200.

Of course, that’s not to say that females are lesser then males. Females could compete against their male counterparts in the less physical sports, like chess or poker. (Whether you consider them an actual sport is a separate matter entirely.) Heck, the highest ranked female Chess grandmaster, Judit Polgar is also the youngest person to have ever achieved such title.

I encourage any and every female that doesn’t agree with me and has the prowess, sign up for any and all sports that you can/want to. If it’s a traditionally male only team, sign up, go through the training. If at the end of the day, you don’t make the cut, truly ask yourself, was it because of your gender, or was it because somebody else was more physically able, skilled, or talented.

I’ve seen female football players at my old school. They’re fierce, strong, and every bit as worthy to be up there then any of the other guys. I look up to them, not because they where female, but because they where able to go through the training that I couldn’t even handle and dropped out the first couple days off. I know it was their skill and strength that got them there, not what was between their legs, because in the end of the day that’s what matters in sports.

muggles do this because of an unfair physical advantage, such as guys are usually built more for running, and girls are usually sleeker which allow them to glide through water.

in quidditch, it is how you maneuver your broom, and how you use your arms/body to block/throw/catch

similar to the muggle sport of auto racing such as NASCAR

well, actually it’s because in quidditch, they use brooms to fly so technically it doesn’t require much physical strength, the skills is more important. While in our muggle world, we have to use our OWN strength in most sports, and there are differences between men & woman’s physical strength, so this post is totally bullshit

Wut

This post really messed me up

Sam Winchester is younger than Harry Potter…

And BBC Sherlock was born in 1980, so Sherlock is the same age as Harry and Ron and is younger than Hermione.

I care that, once again, poor Ron gets the bloody short end of the stick.

He spent six and a half books/seven movies feeling he was second best at everything and finally shines and proves himself, ends up with the girl and the respect he deserves only to be told years later that it is mistake….
