I actually watched Civil War just a few days ago. It’s interesting because tbh I haven’t thought about Laviyuu while watching it because the Steve/Tony/Bucky thing is totally rad on its own, and they have a much different relationship that I thought if Alma was Bucky things might not work. I mean there’s no way Lavi can fight Kanda and Alma even by themselves, let alone together. Also I don’t think he’s the type who’d fight Kanda against Alma; he’d probably just bow out because it’ll make Kanda happy, you know? So it didn’t work for me BUT THEN I thought: well, what if Lavi is in Bucky’s position, because essentially in the movie Bucky’s kind of the “third wheel” (I know he came first originally but in the MCU movie sequence he came after Tony, so it could work maybe?). I mean Alma seems much more likely to fight tooth and nail to get Kanda back, like Tony would. Although seriously if I’m writing an MCU/DGM au (oh god) I’d have to change a lot of things, simply because the original materials are so different. It’d be quite interesting to parse out. 😀
I have not seen Edge of Tomorrow. Now you make me feel like I have to watch it haha. Will rent it some time – it’s an interesting premise and I heard that Emily Blunt was awesome in it.
of course i didn’t mean it literally (i mean kanda as steve? joke of the century lol) i just meant it in their relationship dynamic i guess?
like in lavi is his new comrade *cough*andboyfriend*cough* but alma is that important friend from the past who he thought was dead but came back and he will defend him to the end of the world kind of relationship? kanda & alma = Artificial Human => Steve & Bucky & Lavi = The smart one and the new guy => Tony. make sense right? (And it’s not like Tony can fight any of them without his iron man suit either right?)
in egde of tomorrow there is this part where emily blunt talks about seeing a guy (she loves?) died over and over again and it just scream alma to me! if you want to check it out then i suggest reading the manga (illustrations by Takeshi Obata) as well. The ending is a bit meh (i like the american ending better) but it explains everything else better.
