Thought on Malec (part 2)
llightwood: Malec are my favourites too, but I actually was okay with how things happened. After all, I wanted them to get back together, and the book is already really long, so prolonge it … I actually like the part where Alec said he was in pieces because Magnus was missing, I thought his distress was well showed til he found him! I think there was actually more Malec moments than in COLS, no ? In the 5th book, we don’t get to see them talk much, besides little parts here and then and the breakup
Oh when i said there aren’t many Malec moments i mean we dont get to see a lot from their POV. We get Magnus’ POV a few times but there are hardly any from Alec’s POV, we only know what he said not what he really feels inside.I dont mean he didnt mean what he said,of course he was in pieces because Magnus was missing, but i want to know more than just words, I want to see inside his head
In CoFA & CoLS we get something like this
“But Magnus… You never told me. Never warned me it would be like this, that I would wake up one day and realize that I was going somewhere you couldn’t follow. That we are essentially not the same. There’s no ‘till death do us apart’ for those who never die.”
Or this
“Magnus’ door was cracked slightly open, and the sounds of music playing softly wafted out into the hall. Today it was Tchaikovsky. Alec felt his shoulders relax as the door of the apartment shut behind him. He could never be quite sure how the place was going to look it was minimalist right now, with white couches, red stacking tables, and stark black-and-white photos of Paris on the walls but it had begun to feel increasingly familiar, like home. ”
But in this book, it’s like we back in CoB, CoA & CoG where we hardy get anything from their POV. I think it has something to do with Alec being with Clary all the time, so it’s hard to swicth POV
Or maybe i’m too used to Magnus’ POV from TBC so i became greedy lol. I guess we will have to count on fanfic writers after all
shahania: I agree with this … Feel like Cassandra was trying to promote her future books too much…. Although the book is still amazing
Did she? To be honest I only read Malec & Sizzy’s parts with some occasion of Clace to vaguely understand what’s going on LOL
The only part I read about Emma was when she run to their place to tell them about Edom, but I do notice that her name shows up a lot
fandomsshipsfeels: I agree.
First there’s the lack of Malec moments. For me their relationship is one of the most mature and complicated. So I was expecting more scenes.
I don’t know if this is the reason, but it also happens in other books/tv series that the gay couple is the less showed.
So I’m still blaming all this on the fact that apparently the world is not ready for homosexual romance. Bah!
What disappointed me the most is the ending.
I’ve always known that Magnus would be Alec’s only one.
I wanted Alec to be Magnus’ most important one. Ever.
I was so happy when in CoLS Mag told him ‘There won’t be a next time’.
But that was one book ago and many things could change.
Magnus is still immortal, he can find love again after Alec dies.
Tessa is the perfect example of this.
And I swear I’d have been ok even with both of them dead, if that would’ve meant together forever (it’s selfish, I know).
I hope they’ll be in TDA, I think Magnus will be there, but Alec won’t.
Cassie has often said that books have to show that reality is cruel and painful and the idea of one immortal warlock that will never love again goes against that.
I respect Cassie and her work (she gave us Malec), but I think they’re the ones with the worst ‘happy’ ending.
I think a lot about the lack of Malec moments & why their ending is so different from Clace & Sizzy
I mean you can see Clace & Sizzy have a happily ever after then die together but Malec’s immortality problem is still there
But when I woke up this morning it hit me: we still have a chapter left for The Bane Chronicles. I mean all the stories in TBC are not really connected like an usual book but it still need a concluding chapter
I imagine (& hope) this last chapter will be like Clockwork Princess’ epilogue, tell us about Malec’s happy life together until Alec grows old and … you know what i mean, i cant say the word.
And HOPEFULLY Magnus will follow him, not ‘kill himself’ kind of follow, but ‘he finally find a way to grow old with Alec’ kind. (hey, a girl can dream right)
Just like in CP2’s epilogue when we found out that Jem isnt a Silent brother anymore but dont know how, Cassie may tease us about Magnus being mortal but wont explain until TDA (hey Cassie can you read this, if you want to promote TDA this is the perfect chance please dont let me down)
Honestly I want them to die together too. When I read the part Magnus want to stay at the demon realm so others can go back, I kinda hope that they stay & die together in Edom
It tooks me like months to decide whether to read TBC or not, because I couldn’t stand seeing Magnus with other people than Alec, it still feels like cheating even if at those time Alec isnt born yet. That feeling is still there and I refuse to read anymore of Cassie’ works if Magnus loves someone else in the future
But why do you think Alec wont be in TDA? It’s only 5 years after CoHF, i’m pretty sure he will still alive by that time (even if shadowhunter’s life is dangerous, i believe Magnus will never let him die in battle).
Honestly if there is someone who should not appear in TDA it would be Magnus, not because he was dead but because he appears in every fucking series of the shadowhunter chronicles (TID, TMI and im pretty sure he will be in TLH too)
.He even has his own book so i think it’s time for Cassie to give him a rest & have a happy normal life, not being involved in Shadowhunter’s business
And there are lots of people who tired of his appearances (not me of course) but i dont want people to hate him just because he shows up a lot
Now, there is another thing that bothers me in CoHF
What the hell did Magnus’ mean when he said “A lot of Shadowhunter don’t get old”???
Did he mean “Oh, even if you get old you will still beautiful” (like Will)
Or “Even if you get old & die people will still remember you”
Or “There is a way for Shadowhunter to NOT get old”???????????????????????????????????? (other than becomeSilent Brother of course)
OR am I missing something here because I kind of read the book in a rush so there might be something I skipped that I shouldn’t
This is horrible because IT GIVES ME HOPE THAT THERE MIGHT BE A CHANCE FOR THEM TO BE TOGETHER FOREVER
rinchannoparadise: I don’t know if I will read Cassie’s next trilogy or not, considering that Malec is the main factor that pull me into this fandom! Hope that you will continue to update on them (If they have some appearance) in the next book. Thank you!
I know what you feel, it tooks me 4 MONTHS to finish TID because I was always like “All these things that’s going on are fascinating but where is Magnus? I only read this for Magnus get me Magnus” and then when Magnus didn’t show up I got bored & stop reading for like a month before pick it up again LOL I’m not sure if i would read TDA or not either, but if i do, i will remember to post it here :3
I woke up and wondered why i have this pain in my heart first thing in the morning and then i remember reading CoHF until 4 last night. NOW IM NOT SURE IF I NEED MALEC FEELS TO DISTRACT MYSELF FROM GODFREY GAO FEELS, OR NEED GODFREY GAO FEELS TO DISTRACT MYSELF FROM MALEC FEELS, maybe I need something to distract
myself from both, both are equally horrible
Sort of finish CoHF, here is some thoughts on Malec (Part 1)
Well, everything turn out well, but it still feels like their story isn’t end yet. We still have TDA in the future so i still hope to see more of their relationship
Er, actually i expected A LOT more drama & epic arguements than this, but to be honest every Malec scenes makes my heart ache because they are so sweet even though there are not that much scenes they are together
Robert & Alec’s conversation is kind of unsatisfying but hell, the Waywood part is the biggest plot twist of this book LOL
Alec is a wonderful human being mommy sorry for ever doubt you in the past ;______;
Magnus’ father was boring LOL Sorry you didnt impress me that much
Overall, it’s more of the sweet side than the angst i expected, at this point i would like to point out that i have read fanfics that handle their relationship better but you cant have everything so … dont get me wrong I like this ending too but there is still something not quite satisfying about it …
“Alex- Alec, if I had given you the impression I had accepted the idea of your death, I can only apologize. I tried to, I thought I had- and yet still I pictured having you for fifty, sixty more years. I thought I might be ready to let you go. But it’s you, and I realize now that I won’t be any more ready to lose you than I am right now. Which is not at all”
TMI/TID meme | [6/6 characters]: Magnus Bane
You asked me how I, being immortal, survive so many deaths. There is no great secret. You endure what is unbearable, and you bear it. That is all.
From the perfect start to the finish line.
Well I’ve lost it all, I’m just a silhouette,
A lifeless face that you’ll soon forget,
My eyes are damp from the words you left,
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.
Magnus’ Dad
What do we know? We know it has to be a demon. But it also has to have formerly been an angel or had a strong connection to heaven for Magnus to have done what he did with the witchlight
Magnus pulled him close, and the witchlight flickered between them, its color changing rapidly. Alec had never seen a witchlight rune-stone do that before.
Hes very powerful or high up because demons are always letting Magnus do what he wants. We know that Camille was at least telling the truth about Magnus’ dad being a Prince of Hell because that would explain how his dad sorta was an angel but also a demon.
His father was a Prince of Hell.
There are seven. We know 4. Lucifer, Baal, Sammael, and Azazel. It doesn’t seem like Cassandra Clare is using the classic Princes of Hell so we don’t really know about other, outside sources that say who is considered a Prince of Hell in our world.
We know it’s not Azazel because of what he said when Magnus summoned him.
If it is infernal assistance you require, why not summon your father?
It also seems that he would be a demon more powerful than Lucifer though I can’t seem to find a direct quote to that so it might be a misconception. But, it seems like Azazel is the second most powerful so the only one more powerful would be Lucifer.

Lucifer is a Prince of Hell. He’s definitely angelic, powerful, would have lots of influence, and would affect the story a lot if he was Magnus’s dad.
However, Camille has a direct quote saying that Lucifer is not Magnus’ father.
Alec’s winter-pale skin went even paler. “Of course I do,” he said, stiffly. “I am a Shadowhunter. But they are … mythic. The greatest angels of Heaven became the greatest princes in Hell. And the greatest of them all is … Lucifer.” He sucked in a breath. “You aren’t saying …”
Camille pealed with laughter. “That Magnus’ father is the Light-Bringer? The Morning Star? Certainly not!”
The question is if Camille can be trusted. Her reaction makes it seem like what she is saying is a ridiculous possibility to her, therefore genuine, but, Camille does lie and bend the truth. What we have to figure out is what Camille’s intentions would be for either lying or being honest.

Baal is a really big one because we know how Magnus’s eyes are like cat pupils and Baal has apparently been known for taking cat forms sometimes. But does a warlock’s features like Magnus’ eyes actually say something about their parentage?
Also, when with Will, when they were summoning the demon, Marbas. he threatened the demon with Baal.
Do you swear on Baal that you are telling the truth?
A few lines before he says that, Magnus actually does mention his dad. So he could be talking about Baal when talking about his dad.
Do you really wish to disobey me, Marbas? Do you wish to anger my father?
Which would make sense if he was his dad, right? Like Magnus could be like Draco and go all “My father will here about this” on demons. So they might leave him alone or obey him.
One thing, though. On the shadowhunter wikia, it doesn’t list Baal as a Prince of Hell. I’ve seen him be referred as one by people but I have no actual proof that Baal is a prince.
Then again, if his dad was Lucifer, he would have control over Baal too in a way.

In City of Lost Souls, Magnus and Azazel have a moment where they both quote a man named Faustus. I looked it up and it’s a tale where a man sells his soul to the devil for power.
The devil is Satan who is also considered a Prince of Hell in our world but I’m not sure if he’s considered one in the story. But the mention of Faustus and the strong connection he has with Mephistopheles who is like one of Satan’s minions makes me want to look into it. Plus he is compared to Faustus.
“"For this is Hell, nor am I out of it,”“ said Magnus, with the air of someone quoting an old saying.
Azazel showed a metallic smile. “You may not be proud like old Faustus, but you are impatient.”

Sammael is the last option I’m considering. He’s an archangel and considered an equal or evil equivalent to the archangel, Michael. According to Shadowhunter wikia, he was a former lover of Lilith when she was human. I feel like Samael is one of the strongest options because of his connection to her and we know that Lilith is back now.
It is said that Sammael fought equally with the archangel, Michael, but was cut down at the time by Michael’s sword “Glorious”. It is unknown if he survived the angelic wound and, if he did, how long until his physical body would reform, as he has not been seen on Earth in many hundreds of years.
So it would definitely be very interesting if Sammael has returned. In the book trailer, we can see Clary dipping a sword into a pool. At first, people were thinking that it could’ve been The Mortal Sword but I’m also thinking that it could be Glorious.
Sammael has not been seen either on Earth or in the Void for nearly a thousand years, and as such his appearance or true form is unknown to the Nephilim.
So it is possible that Sammael has regenerated and is now among the ranked of the Shadowhunters.
Sammael was known for going around with Lilith and promoting the creation of warlocks and faeries so why wouldn’t he have made a warlock himself?
Sammael is known as The Destroyer and Magnus’ last name is Bane which is a synonym for destroyer.
Then again, Sammael hasn’t been seen by anyone in hundreds of years. Why would Azazel have told Magnus to contact his father if everyone has thought that he’s dead? Say that Sammael was alive and told the other Princes of Hell and his son that he was alive. Would Azazel really have risked talking about it in front of all the Shadowhunters there? And Camille seems to talk about Magnus’ father in present tense, implying he’s still alive. How would Camille know about Sammael being alive still?

A lot of this raises some predictions and other interesting theories. But I’m too lazy to talk about them and I have no more time I have to post the inform something. I feel like I was speaking very formally in this for some odd reason. And also, Mo, you have 3 DoDs now. :* it’s all your fault.
