Well…it’s not really a contradiction. The Lightwoods’ race is never explicitly stated, so she has every right to be fine with both casting. I mean, yes, I’m annoyed that she turns any criticism of her work into “putting down empowered women”, and I’m more than annoyed at how she claims diversity points even though “non-explicit race” is not representation, but there’s no contradiction there.
What would be more interesting is to comment on how she never says anything about Godfrey Gao and Harry Shum Jr’s castings as Magnus even though neither is Indonesian.

I think one of the things that really rubs me wrong is that I just saw a blog who’s always attacking people for their opinions and who has attacked me for mine post about being attacked and the whole fandom is like “ignore them you’re perfect” and “OMG don’t be mean to her she’s so nice.” Like I just don’t get this fandom anymore.
Yo Man i’m all in for defending Harry Shum Jr, but let’s not talk shit about Gao to do that, yeah? Both of them are cute af, and were/are going to be amazing Magnus.
you can’t preach about respecting the tv-actors and not dissing on them, by attacking the movie the cast. Be respectful to both. Some people liked the movie cast, some people didn’t. Some people don’t like the tvcast, some people do. And you are absolutely allowed too. If you see people trash talking Harry, point it out if you really want to, though ignoring it might just be better. But you are not being the better person here if you trash talk Godfrey as a result of it.
